DIY Ruffled Ice Cream Cones!!!

Remember that 'Ice Cream Social' Gender Reveal inspiration post we shared with you a few weeks back?  Well I am just all a-gog for these beautiful DIY ruffled Ice Cream cones and wanted to share with you a simple little tutorial from one of our favorite master party stylists, Icing Designs:)

First and foremost, get your pretty party invitations in our Juneberry Lane Etsy shop (they can be customized for whatever type of event you are throwing!) then check out the loveliness below to see how to whip up a few of these lovely sweet treats!

RUFFLED ICE CREAM CONES

Supplies you will Need:
~ 2 1/2" styrofoam balls
~ 1 1/2 yards of lightweight cotton fabric
~ Sewing machine or needle and thread
~ Hot glue gun/glue
~ Glue
~ Scrapbook paper
~ Cone template (found HERE)
~ Polyester stuffing
~ Ribbon
~ Pins

Directions:

1.) Cut fabric into strips about 44" long x 1.5 " wide using pinking shears. Sew down the middle of the strip, ruffling fabric as you go with sewing machine. You can also ruffle the fabric by hand if you do not have a sewing machine. Your finished ruffle should be 8" long. You could also use pre-ruffled fabric or ruffle trim if you do not want to make your own!

2.) Trace cone template onto your paper and cut out. Glue edges to make cone shape. I recommend not using hot glue for this step since you need a bit of extra time to get the edges together just right. Fill your cone with stuffing to help hold the shape.

3.) Cut a circle roughly 8" in diameter out of your fabric. Wrap the fabric around the ball and hot glue to bottom, gathering as you go. Do not worry about how the bottom looks, it will be hidden inside your cone.

4.) Place hot glue around inside edge of your cone and stick the covered styrofoam inside. Hot glue your ruffle around the top of the cone, twisting as you go around. Be sure to glue it to both the paper and the styrofoam ball. If you would like to hang the cones, cut ribbon to desired length and use a pin or hot glue to secure it to your ice cream!

That's it!  Ever-so-simple and a real party stunner!  And what's even better?  You can send each of your  little party guests home with one to hang in their rooms and enjoy the rest of the year through!!

Juneberry Baby: Project Nursery!!

So, we have wrapped up a very busy week over here at Juneberry Lane; caught up on orders, finished a very special 2-year-old's birthday party (pictures to come:), and are now falling back into the normal routine!

And what better way to jump back into the swing of things than to get the planning for baby girl's nursery underway!  After all, she will be here in just about 4 months and time is flying by!

I thought I would share with you two different inspirations that I have had for two different rooms.  I have a clear favorite, but I am going to go ahead and share both with you, because nursery planning just never gets old . . .

ROOM ONE:
Peach & turquoise "Fly Away With Me" Baby Girl Nursery . . .

(Joel Dewberry Heirloom Fabrics in Citrine)

Using the above textiles, a corner of fabric kites . . .

Soft peach for the wall color . . .

And a pale turquoise chevron rug (via Urban Outfitters)

Why not a handmade kite mobile?

Close-ups of the fabric for the handmade bedding, curtain, and accent pillows . . .

And a lovely curtain tie-back . . .

Along with a fabric bunting to fancy up the place . . .

Room Two:
Timeless Elegance in Coral, Navy, and Soft Grey . . .

(The inspiration from this room also started with fabric....Navy Fleur by Caitlin Wilson)

A soft accent coral wall in 'Coral Reef' by Benjamin Moore or Behr 'Coral Bells' . . .

With the opposite walls adorned with a mis-match of elegant coral frames . . .

Curtain tie-backs via Urban Outfitters . . .

And a poof of tissue poms or paper flowers (or maybe both!) . . .

A bevy of Jonathan Adler Sculptures (along with the Owl Bookends by Fringe Designs) that I am choosing between . . .

Whew . . . I would have a hundred babies if it meant I could decorate nurseries all day long.  But I suppose my husband would have something to say about that:)

Wedding Wednesday: An Autumn Engagement Party in Coral & Navy

Ahhh, I am so in love with this amazing engagement party from The Heart of the Occasion, such a lovely palette of colors and just plain magical when it comes to the little details.  And although we are in the thick of summer, it is just the right time to start planning an engagement party for your favorite couple that has agreed to say 'I do' this summer!

And it's not just the party that is making me so utterly happy...but the most amazing new concept to include a 'Muddling Bar'!!!  The options are endless and your guests will have EVER so much fun!  From Mojitos, to Old-Fashions, to Mint Juleps, and beyond...expect to see a lot more of these in the upcoming months; a special kind of DIY for your guest to join in on the fun!

But without further adieu, you simply have to see this party . . .

This stunning event was thrown by the couple's best friend at the Pullman Barn (property of the Chicago Botanical Garden).

Guests could create a one-of-a-kind concoction at the muddling bar . . .

In lieu of traditional place cards, guests found these amazing picnic baskets with their names on them to mark their seats instead.

And just in case a ton of picnic baskets aren't in your budget, I do believe these baskets would make an EXCELLENT & creative way for a bride & groom-to-be to ask their nearest & dearest to be in their wedding party . . .

The gift baskets were themed "For a Lazy Sunday Morning" and included items intended to be much appreciated after a late night of celebration.  Each was packed with a thermos ready for hot cider (just add water), fresh scones and apple-honey butter, super strong coffee, a seriously cozy blanket and crisp,  fresh apples.

Isn't this navy & coral palette just divine?  And those rustic picnic tables combined with the fancier table decor is just to die for!!

How about those custom placemats?

Care for a game of golden apple croquet?

These customized mad libs about the couple were read aloud around the fire, once dusk turned to evening . . .

The smore's spread included sweet items like cider-spiced donuts, gourmet grahams, home made marshmallows and salted caramels, fresh herbs and savory items like cheeses paired with delicious crackers and fresh honeycomb.  Guests paired their treats with cider or cordials.

Toss a few pillows and cozy throws around the firepit for an evening of fun . . .

Now wasn't that just truly divine?  I know you are enjoying summer and all of the beach time, swimming, sun bathing, and cooking out that goes along with it...but you just can't help looking forward to winding things down when you see something as lovely as this, right?
